Ti Jaden means “little garden” or “little farm” in Creole.
In the mountains of Haiti, families are eager for the opportunity to provide for themselves and build a better future. Through the Ti Jaden Farming Program, we are putting the well-known saying into action:
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Hands for Haiti has developed farming programs in both the villages and mountain communities to help Haitians start and sustain their own farms. Participants learn practical farming techniques while also gaining valuable skills in budgeting, saving, stewardship, and disciplined planning.
The goal is not simply short-term relief — it is long-term independence. Families are growing food, creating income, feeding their children, and building hope for the future.
Even more beautiful is what happens next: those who succeed are encouraged to help others do the same. One family’s harvest becomes the seed of transformation for an entire community.
When a garden grows, hope grows too.
